Discussion:
Keith Noren who is organizing Alabama has been in contact with Occupy Huntsville and has good results in signing up volunteers.
Action item: Ben has promised to send him information about the forum and about the Texas Website for downloading sample promotional material for Rocky. I'm marking this as done as I will send it out right now.

Anissa who is organizing Kentucky said her daughters are having good results in their canvassing work.
Action  Item: Anissa said she had good contacts for getting bumperstickers at a very good price.  She said that she would share her bumpersticker desgn and vendor's name with everyone else.
Action item: Ben said that if Aniissa would send him the design/vendor info, he would post it on the Sample messages section of the Texas Justice Party Website

We bought everyone up to speed to about the Quick Response Codes that Paul and his wife Barbara designed which allow cell phone users who have the correct application on their cell phone to scan the code and it pulls up the voterocky.org and justicepartyusa.org Websites.
Action item: Paul in North Carolina,  please re-send the state coordinators your access codes so Anissa can include it in her  bumper sticker design.

Paul  in North Carolina said they have been posting the Quick Response Codes everywhere they could. He also said that some of the college students who previously expressed interest in Students for Justice had not called him back.

Ben in Texas said that he had one student in Texas had started organizing a Students for Justice chapter at his campus.
Action item: Ben said that he would work with the Webmaster for the Justice Party State Web Platform to see if it might be possible for Students for Justice to have their own Website.

Peter in Florida, said that he was still  investigating the election law around how  to get Rocky on the ballot in Florida. He has also made some new contacts for people who want to help.
Action Item: Ben said that he would put Peter in contact with Richard Winger who is a ballot access expert who tracks the ballot access laws in all 50 states. This action is now done.

Steen Kirby who is organizing Georgia said that there were a couple of people who signed up to help in Georgia this week. Steen had suggested that Rocky go on a bus trip around the country and link up with the big free events in each locality. Ben Shaw and Dylan McDonnell  (iI mistakenly changed the Mc to O' during the conversation. I will make amends on St. Paddy's day) also contributed some thoughs on how to pay for the trip.
Action Item: Ben will make sure that everyone on the call and on the invitee list gets a copy of he email thread so they can throw in their 2 cents worth.

Action Item: Send everyone a link to the Forum. Unfortunately, the forum page does not have its unique Web address (URL), but thas he same address as justicepartyusa.org. But, I will do hat right now. I will mark this action item as done.

Action Item: Ben will mention the web address problem above to Walter. Done.
Action Item: Walter will ensure that Forum page has unique URL. This appears to be fixed. Done.

New Acton Item: Walter reminded Ben  to work on an automated Web Report Form that State Coordinator could use to use to report progress.. In progress.

Please add your comments/corrections/additions on this page. See you next week.

Respectfully Submitted,

Ben

I like this format for reporting on the Southern Region conference calls:

  • Shows topic/action
  • Updates by attendees.
  • Open to participation by anyone

I think I'll give this a go for the Midwest Region conference calls.

By the way - I have a vested interest in what is happening in Texas.  I need to know that there is a serious challenge developing to have a JP gubernatorial JP candidate for the great state of Texas.  All my time and effort spent volunteering within the JP is time/effort taken away from my anti-death penalty activism.  I need to know, and assure all my anti-death penalty activist friends,  that my participation in JP is well spent.

Go South, Go Rocky, Go Texas!!!

I agree, I want to see Texas really make a difference. However, many people as well as myself have tried to help change Texas. I worked hard down there for the DEMS in 2005 and they even called me a communist. I was a registered Dem. Go figure!!!!!!! The Dems are no better either but at least it is a start. I was called a communist, a fascist, and more you name it. This was because I was from NYC and to many people down there if your not a Republican or not from Texas your a ghost. Even young native Texans want a change.  I really hope and pray that someone just starts a revolution. They need changes in all aspects especially Human Rights(Death Penalty). I am a big  anti-death penalty person. Don't get me wrong they are great people and respect you in other ways. When it comes to politics, it is a different animal. It is the same in some ways here in NYC.

It seems to me that Texas is always going to be behind the rest of the country.

I love Texas. I have family in San Antonio, and I want Texas to really have someone who can help them. Is the Rocky effort happening there? I can tell Ben is working hard down there. You go!!!God Bless you all down there. There are good people who want  to see change.

The federal court in the redistricting case opened up filing this year. I'm trying to recruit candidates for U.S. Senate and  the Railroad Commissioner, which is "supposed" to regulate the oil industry in Texas. I have until 6:00 P.M. March 9th to find the candidates.

The Governors election is two years away. If we can get on the ballot, then we can start making amends for giving the nation George W. Bush and Ricky Perry,
